Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has reaffirmed his commitment to defend the people of Rivers and safeguard their interests despite the challenges facing his administration. Speaking to reporters in Ngo Town, the capital of Andoni Local Government Area, Governor Fubara expressed his dedication to fulfilling the oath of office he took.
The governor made this declaration following an inspection of the Andoni section of the Ogoni-Andoni-Opobo Unity road. He noted the significant progress made since the decision to re-award the contract for the road, particularly praising the contractor for the commendable job done. While acknowledging the achievements, Governor Fubara also highlighted a section of the road leading to the council secretariat that was not initially included in the scope. He emphasized the importance of addressing this omission.
Despite the challenges faced by the administration, Governor Fubara emphasized, “We will continue to do our best…The most important thing is that we have taken our oath to defend our people and protect their interest, and we are not going back on that.”
Governor Fubara expressed his determination to complete the road project, which had been a longstanding issue for over two decades. He reiterated his commitment to leaving a lasting legacy through projects that would benefit the people for years to come. The governor underscored the significance of governance in protecting lives and property, citing the provision of quality services such as the ongoing road construction.
He concluded by reflecting on the unique opportunity his administration had to address a project that had eluded progress for more than two decades, saying, “It is a credit and a big one at that, to our administration.”
