A Federal High Court in Lagos has directed the detention of an alleged WhatsApp hacker, Stephen Andrew Ojo, at the Ikoyi facility of the Nigerian Correctional Services. Ojo faced charges of conspiracy, identity theft, and obtaining money by false pretenses. The police prosecutor revealed that Ojo and accomplices had conspired to commit identity theft by hacking the WhatsApp account of Mrs. Laraba Shuaibu and fraudulently obtaining N700,000 from another individual. Despite Ojo entering a plea of not guilty, the court ordered his remand in custody until January 24, 2024, when the Chief Judge would reassign the case.
