To enhance the living conditions of Officers and Men of the Nigeria Customs Service, Comptroller-General Bashir Adewale Adeniyi has announced a collaborative effort with the Cooperative Mortgage Bank to develop a total of five thousand and nine housing units across the country.
CGC Adeniyi disclosed this initiative at the Pacesetter Garden Estate in Ajoda, Ibadan, Oyo State, accompanied by key figures including Mrs. Kikelomo Adeniyi, the National President of Customs Officers Wives Association (COWA), DCG Festus Okun, DCG Greg Itotoh, ACG Aliu Olaniyi Alajogun, ACG Bello Jibo, and other senior officers.
Recognizing the positive impact of the housing scheme on the morale and efficiency of Officers and their families, CGC Adeniyi acknowledged the temporary relief provided through staff quarters but highlighted concerns related to retirement and subsequent vacation from these quarters.
In addressing the long-term housing needs, he explained, “To establish a sustainable housing solution, a strategic partnership has been formed with the Cooperative Mortgage Bank (CMB). This collaboration aims to construct 5,009 Housing Units nationwide, providing a stable foundation for Officers and empowering them to invest in their families and futures, ultimately enhancing their effectiveness in serving the nation.”
The housing scheme encompasses a variety of residences, including two-bedroom terrace bungalows and three-bedroom terrace duplexes strategically located in Lagos, Kaduna, Kano, Asaba, Masaka, Ibadan, Port Harcourt, and Abuja.
Expressing gratitude, CGC Adeniyi acknowledged the collaborative efforts of the Cooperative Mortgage Bank, Modern Shelter, and Brains & Hammers in making this flagship housing program a reality.
