Senator George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, has issued a stern warning against the misuse of his office for the dissemination of fraudulent appointments to the public.
In a statement released on Sunday by Mr. Segun Imohiosen, the Head of Information at the Office of the SGF in Abuja, Akume expressed concern over the proliferation of fake appointments originating from the SGF office. These deceptive schemes, orchestrated by unscrupulous individuals, aim to exploit unsuspecting victims.
Akume categorically refuted the information circulating on various platforms such as social media, emails, and text messages. The misleading messages entice the public to submit their Curriculum Vitae for a fee to a fictitious desk within his office.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation clarified that the perpetrator had been employing the name of the former Director of Information, Willie Bassey, and using fraudulent contacts like Aliyu Isah with phone numbers +234 9168487156, +234 8035557865, and email address draliyu95@gmail.com, among others, to deceive Nigerians.
In light of these deceitful activities, the general public is strongly advised to exercise caution and disregard any information propagated by these fraudulent actors. Akume emphasized that official inquiries and clarifications should strictly follow the official communication channels of the Office of the SGF, which can be accessed at www.osgf.gov.ng and info@osgf.gov.ng.
The SGF sternly warned those involved in disseminating such deceptive requests to immediately cease using his office for illicit gains. Failure to comply will result in facing the full force of the law. This warning comes as a reiterated effort, as earlier in the month, the SGF had already cautioned the public against falling victim to similar scams.
