The kidnappers of the Chairman of Akwanga Local Government Area in Nasarawa State, Alhaji Safiyanu Andaha, and his friend, Adamu Umar Tanko, have reportedly demanded a ransom of N50 million for their release. A family source, requesting anonymity, revealed this information in Lafia on Tuesday.
Negotiations are said to be underway between the chairman’s family and the kidnappers to secure their release. Alhaji Safiyanu Andaha and Adamu Umar Tanko were abducted on Monday night at Ningo village on the Akwanga-Andaha Road around 8:30 pm.
The Special Adviser to the Nasarawa State Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Haruna Kassimu, confirmed the kidnapping, and the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, affirmed that the police, in collaboration with other security agencies, are actively pursuing the kidnappers to secure the victims’ release.
