The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the last election, Mr. Peter Obi, visited the family of the late former Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo to offer condolences. During the visit to Ibadan, Obi described the deceased governor as a dogged fighter who stood for truth and a forthright person who consistently sided with the masses.
Accompanied by Professor Pat Utomi, who was Akeredolu’s classmate at Loyola College, Ibadan, in the 60s, Obi expressed his condolences in the register, praying for eternal rest for the departed governor and strength for the family to bear the loss. Professor Utomi also shared memories of Akeredolu’s leadership traits dating back to their secondary school days, highlighting his commitment to justice and equity.
The family, represented by Prof Wole Akeredolu, the immediate younger brother of the deceased, appreciated the visit and the support extended by Obi and Utomi during this difficult time.
