The Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has assured the people of Ondo state that he will recruit more health workers in the New Year and pay all outstanding entitlements of workers despite the state’s lean resources. The governor made this commitment at the annual prayer organized by civil servants of the state to usher in the new working year.
Governor Aiyedatiwa emphasized the importance of strengthening the health sector and pledged to move forward with the already approved recruitment of health workers. He assured that filling vacancies in various sectors would be done regularly as needed. The governor expressed gratitude to public servants for their cooperation and thanked labor unions for their support, promising that the welfare of workers would be a top priority.
Key promises made by Governor Aiyedatiwa include prompt payment of salaries, promotions, regular elevation, payment of inherited salary arrears, training and retraining, and provision of working tools to ensure an efficient 21st-century Civil Service. He urged civil servants to focus on their work diligently, avoiding partisan politics, especially in the run-up to the governorship election, and emphasized the need for a peaceful election process.
The Head of Service, Pastor Kayode Ogundele, commended the governor for his support in addressing issues affecting public servants. Ogundele expressed confidence in Governor Aiyedatiwa’s worker-friendly approach, citing initiatives such as regular promotions, equitable distribution of palliatives, payment of wage awards, and welfare packages for enhanced efficiency. The prayer event included religious leaders, heads of security agencies, members of the State Executive Council, and other government officials.
