Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has encouraged the officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army to intensify their efforts in addressing various security challenges in the state. He gave this charge during the West African Social Activities (WASA) event of the Nigerian Army at the Bori camp in Port Harcourt. Represented by the Secretary to Rivers State Government, Dr Tammy Danagogo, the governor urged the military to collaborate with other security agencies for effective policing.
Governor Fubara commended the 6 Division of the Nigerian Army for its commitment to combating insecurity, terrorism, illegal oil bunkering, kidnapping, and ethno-religious conflicts. He emphasized the importance of working together to achieve a crime-free Rivers State and assured the military of the state government’s collaboration and support. The General Officer Commanding 6 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Jamman Abdussalam, highlighted the achievements of the army in 2023, including arrests, destruction of illegal refineries, and confiscation of illegally refined products. He also mentioned the successful training program, “Still The Waters III,” aimed at enhancing soldiers’ skills and readiness.
