The University of Ilorin has dismissed reports linking the institution to a list of fake professors that surfaced in 2019. The University clarified that none of the individuals listed as fake professors were on its nominal roll, and they had never been associated with the University in any capacity.
The statement, signed by the Director of Corporate Affairs of the University, Kunle Akogun, emphasized the institution’s commitment to high integrity and strict adherence to global best practices, particularly in matters of staff promotion. The University of Ilorin expressed confidence in its reputation and urged stakeholders to ignore the trending report, considering it as an attempt by purveyors of fake news and mischief-makers. The National Universities Commission (NUC) had previously dissociated itself from the list of fake professors that circulated in December 2019.
