Popular Nigerian singer and songwriter, Tiwa Savage, has reportedly filed a petition against Afrobeats star, Davido, alleging a threat to her life over a social media exchange. The petition, addressed to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fayoade Adegoke, claims that Davido sent threatening messages to her manager and warned her to be careful in Lagos.
In the petition, Tiwa Savage explains that the dispute may be connected to her relationship with Sophia Momodu, Davido’s baby mama, with whom he was having issues. The online exchange led to a barrage of calls and messages from mutual connections, with Davido allegedly painting Tiwa Savage as the aggressor.
Tiwa Savage asserts that Davido’s actions amount to harassment and are unethical. She states that his behavior violates her rights to life, privacy, and dignity as guaranteed by the Nigerian Constitution and contravenes the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, Etc.) Act, 2015. The singer expresses concern for her safety and that of her family, urging the Nigerian Police Force to hold Davido responsible in the event of any harm.
The petition comes after reports of both Tiwa Savage and Davido unfollowing each other on Instagram, sparking speculations about the reasons behind their apparent falling out. The issue has generated buzz on social media, with fans offering various opinions on the matter. The Lagos Police Command has yet to confirm the veracity of the petition at the time of this report.
