The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has issued a stern warning to the newly appointed Chief Executive Officers and directors of agencies under his ministry, emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy for negligence or poor performance in their roles. Keyamo conveyed this message during the inauguration ceremony for the newly appointed officials held on Thursday in Abuja.
In his address, the minister expressed a strong commitment to fostering accountability and effective governance within the aviation sector. Keyamo asserted, “I will not tolerate non-performance. If you think your aim is to make money in public office, resign before you leave here. There are thousands of Nigerians waiting to serve, and you must consider it a privilege that you were picked to serve.”
He went on to caution against corruption within their offices, warning that any involvement in such activities would not be tolerated. Keyamo vowed to promptly hand over any individual implicated in corrupt practices to the appropriate agencies for embezzling government funds, underscoring his determination to maintain integrity and prevent any malfeasance.
The minister emphasized that serving in these positions should be viewed as a privilege, and he urged the appointees to prioritize public service over personal gain. Keyamo’s vigilance and commitment to ensuring the appointees’ dedication to the public good align with the government’s renewed focus on the aviation sector as a key component of its administration.
