Senator Hope Uzodimma has been sworn in for a second term as the 7th elected Executive Governor of Imo State after winning the November 11, 2023, off-cycle governorship election. The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, with the Chief Judge of Imo State, Hon. Justice Theresa Chikeka, administering the oath of office.
Governor Uzodimma, who was elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), took his second Oath of Office, expressing gratitude to the people of Imo for re-electing him. He emphasized the massive support received during his first term and the recent election, considering it a testament to the faith Imo people have in his administration and the social contract between the government and the people.
During the ceremony, Uzodimma announced the introduction of the Community Economic Development Initiative (CEDI), focusing on rural communities across the 27 Local Government Areas of the state. The initiative aims to provide one significant project in each community, contributing to the overall development of the state.
The governor outlined 15 major areas of focus for the delivery of Shared Posterity programs and policies, with an emphasis on massive infrastructure development. He pledged to surpass the achievements of his first term in the second term, vowing to turn Imo into an industrial hub in the South East Zone.
Uzodimma called on the people of Imo to support his administration in building the state of their dreams, emphasizing that Imo State belongs to all, regardless of political affiliations or creed. He expressed determination to create an enabling environment for potential investors, aiming to boost economic development in the state.
