Gunmen attacked the office of Ngbo Central Security at Ngbo Court in the Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, killing a female local security guard, Mrs. Onwe Blessing Onana, and injuring another guard. The incident occurred on Tuesday night, and valuable property, along with a motorcycle, was reportedly stolen during the invasion.
The Chairman of Ohaukwu Council area, Odono Onwe, confirmed the attack and expressed sorrow over the loss of the security guard’s life. He mentioned that the security men in the area had faced several gruesome attacks by unidentified gunmen, affecting their morale and efforts to safeguard the locality.
Onwe stated, “Efforts have been put in place by security operatives to ensure that the culprits of the heinous crime were apprehended and brought to justice.” He urged the community to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
As of the time of reporting, attempts to obtain a reaction from the Ebonyi State Command of the Nigeria Police Force were unsuccessful. Calls to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, went unanswered, and messages sent to her mobile were yet to receive a response. Investigations are likely underway to apprehend the perpetrators and address the security situation in the affected area.
