The family of a 50-year-old woman, Mrs. Joy Njoku, is in distress after she left home for a job interview as a chef at Deluxe Premium Hotel in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on September 1, 2023, and never returned. Mrs. Njoku, a mother of five, left the hotel according to CCTV footage but went missing before reaching home.
One of her daughters, Chioma, narrated that her mother was on the phone with a friend when she started screaming as if she was being attacked. The friend reported that Mrs. Njoku mentioned encountering suspicious men in police uniforms before the call abruptly ended.
Despite the family reporting the case to the police and efforts to trace her movements through CCTV footage and mobile phone tracking, there has been no significant breakthrough. The family has not received any ransom demands, and Mrs. Njoku’s disappearance remains a mystery.
Chioma appealed to the Rivers State Government, especially the Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, to thoroughly investigate the case. She expressed frustration at the lack of progress, stating that her mother has been missing for over four months, and even the vehicle she drove that night has not been found.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, directed further inquiries to her Port Harcourt colleague, and at the time of the report, there was no information on the progress of the investigation or any communication with the family. The family is seeking assistance from the authorities to unravel the mystery surrounding Mrs. Njoku’s disappearance.
