Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has announced an immediate 24-hour curfew for the Mangu Local Government Area in response to a worsening security situation. The decision was conveyed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the governor’s Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere.
Governor Mutfwang made the decision after consultations with relevant security agencies. The statement emphasized that only individuals engaged in essential duties are permitted to move within the local government area until further notice. The governor urged all citizens, especially residents of Mangu, to comply with the directive and collaborate with security personnel by providing reliable information to restore peace and order.
Expressing concern over persistent attempts to disrupt security in the state, Governor Mutfwang lamented that despite the government’s efforts to curb the activities of terrorist elements, some individuals remain intent on creating an atmosphere of insecurity. He conveyed sympathy to the families of victims and the injured, assuring them of the government’s unwavering commitment to achieving lasting peace in the state.
Governor Mutfwang also pledged that the curfew would be reviewed as soon as the security situation shows signs of improvement.
