In a way to commiserate with victims affected by the recent attack carried out by some unknown armed men in Bokkos Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State, the Catholic Women Organization of Nigeria (CWON), has recently visited St Thomas Catholic Church Bokkos Camp to support victims of the insurgence.
It would be recalled that over 80 persons were killed as the armed men invaded 12 communities in the LGA while 17 others were killed in Barkin Ladi LGA, where three villages were attacked.
The 12 villages attacked in Bokkos LGA are; Ndun, Ngyong, Murfet, Makundary, Tamiso, Chiang, Tahore, Gawarba, Dares, Meyenga, Darwat, and Butura Kampani.
It should be noted that the figures mentioned above are for those accounted for, as many others are still missing and yet to be accounted for.
Leading the team of Catholic women on the visit were the National President of the organization, Dame Mary Asibi Gonsum
and some Executive Board Members of World Union of Catholic Women (WUCWO).
Receiving the relief materials brought by the women on behalf of the Bishop of Pankshin Diocese, His Lordship, Most Rev. Dr. Michael Gokum, the Vicar General of the diocese and the Parish Priest of St. Thomas, Bokkos, Very Rev. Fr Paul Watpe.
