Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has officially bestowed the Staff of Office upon the new Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, Alhaji Ahmed Tijani Mohammed Anaje. The presentation took place on Thursday at the Ohinoyi Palace in Okene, Kogi Central Senatorial District. In his address during the ceremony, Governor Bello urged the new monarch, aged 49, to focus on promoting unity, development, and the overall prosperity of the people.
Expressing his fulfillment in performing this significant duty, Governor Bello thanked God for the success of the ceremony. He emphasized the importance of ensuring the safety and security of the people and the land. Governor Bello called for collective support from the sons and daughters of Ebiraland, urging them to unite around the new Ohinoyi for the greatness of their land.
Governor Bello acknowledged the divine choice of Ohinoyi Alhaji Dr Ahmed Tijani Mohammed Anaje out of 70 eminently qualified contestants who applied for the throne. He appreciated the contestants for their sportsmanship and maturity displayed throughout the selection process.
Addressing the new Ohinoyi, Governor Bello emphasized inclusiveness, noting that he represents both Islam and Christianity and belongs to every clan, district, and royal district in Ebiraland. The governor assured the new monarch of continued support, even after leaving office.
In his post-installation speech, Ohinoyi Anaje expressed humility and honor at being installed as the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland. He conveyed gratitude to Governor Yahaya Bello for his commitment to the development of Kogi State and the well-being of Ebiraland. Ohinoyi Anaje also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for their faith in Governor Yahaya Bello.
The newly installed Ohinoyi highlighted the promising impact of the revival of Ajaokuta Steel Company and Itakpe Iron Ore Mining Company on Ebiraland and the nation’s economic future. He urged the Federal Government to consider establishing the North Central Development Commission (NCDC) to address longstanding neglect and marginalization in the region.
Ohinoyi Anaje also called for the establishment of a Ministry of Religious Affairs in Kogi State to foster understanding and collaboration between faith communities and strengthen the moral fabric of society. He pledged to dedicate himself to the service of Ebiraland and act as a voice for the aspirations, rights, and development of the people.
