The FCT-Internal Revenue Service has requested Abuja-based socialite, Aisha Achimugu, to furnish the agency with details of her annual tax returns. In a now-deleted post on its official social media platform, the tax agency extended birthday wishes to Achimugu while reminding her to fulfill her tax obligations by filing her annual tax returns.
This move follows viral reports of Achimugu’s extravagant 50th birthday celebration on the Caribbean island of Grenada, where she reportedly hosted friends and high-profile guests, including the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
A dedicated website for the week-long birthday party provided information on visa arrangements, available chauffeurs, travel schedules, and other details for the guests. The celebration, held at the exclusive Calivigny Island, reportedly cost about $924,000 for the seven-day rental of the private 80-acre island.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, who attended the event, countered claims that his visit was for the birthday celebration, stating that he presented a miniature of the Blue Line train to Grenadian Prime Minister Dickon Michelle after talks on bilateral relations.
In response to media attention surrounding the event, Achimugu, the Managing Director of Felak Concept Group, described herself as the “most popular person in the world” and expressed no apologies for the lavish celebration. She thanked those who genuinely showed concern and asserted that she is in high spirits, emphasizing her commitment to doing what makes her happy.
