The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has officially declared former beauty queen Oluwadamilola Aderinoye as a wanted person, suspecting her involvement in illicit drug dealing. The announcement was made on Sunday by Femi Babafemi, the NDLEA Director of Media and Advocacy, after Aderinoye reportedly fled her Lekki estate to evade the agency’s operatives.
Intelligence gathered by the NDLEA suggested Aderinoye’s alleged connection to illicit substance dealings, prompting a search of her home. The search, witnessed by estate officials, revealed several incriminating items, including 606 grams of Canadian Loud, a synthetic strain of cannabis, an electronic weighing scale, large quantities of drug packaging plastics, a black RAV 4 SUV with license plate Lagos KSF 872 GQ, and a picture frame featuring her image.
Femi Babafemi emphasized Aderinoye’s previous title as Miss Commonwealth Nigeria Culture 2015/2016 and her role as the founder of the Queen Christmas Foundation. The agency declared her wanted following her escape from her residence during the NDLEA raid on January 24.
In addition to Aderinoye’s case, the NDLEA also reported the arrest of Udechukwu Ekene, a Brazil returnee, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja, Lagos. Ekene, who ingested 60 large wraps of cocaine, was apprehended during inward clearance of passengers on an Ethiopian Airlines flight from Sao Paulo, Brazil, via Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on January 21, 2024.
Babafemi mentioned that Ekene initially resisted undergoing a body scan, raising health concerns to avoid arrest. However, after accepting alternative options, he was placed on excretion observation. In the NDLEA observatory, Ekene expelled a total of 60 wraps of cocaine, weighing 1.279 kilograms, in five separate excretions.
