Police operatives from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) command have arrested a 20-year-old kidnap kingpin, Buhari Muhammad, and five accomplices in a hotel in Abuja. The arrest followed intelligence about their involvement in the kidnapping of Joshua Eze, who was abducted on January 27 and subsequently rescued unharmed by the police on January 28, 2024.
The FCT command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, announced the arrest in a statement, revealing that one AK-47 rifle and N350,000 were recovered from the suspects. The notorious kidnap syndicate, responsible for the abduction of Joshua Eze, included Muhammad Sabiu, Isah Abdullahi, Hamzat Musa, Fatima Abdullahi, and Zuliat Yusuf.
The suspects confessed to the crime and other kidnapping incidents in the territory. In addition to the AK-47 rifle, the police recovered 10 mobile phones, cash, and other valuables from the suspects.
The surge in kidnapping incidents in the Federal Capital Territory has raised concerns among residents. The FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Benneth Igweh, expressed his commitment to rid the FCT of criminality and urged residents to report suspicious activities.
