The Federal Capital Territory Police Command, through its Rapid Response Squad 74, has apprehended a pastor, Simon Kado, along with his relative, Jesse Simon-Kado, and their driver, Muhammad Isah, for alleged child trafficking. The arrests were made on Friday when the suspects were transporting 12 underage children—eight girls and four boys aged between five and 16 years—from Nasarawa State to Ogun State.
The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, disclosed the incident in a statement on Saturday. According to Adeh, the police intercepted Muhammad Isah, who is from Kafanchan, Kaduna State, in a Toyota Hiace bus with registration number APP 489 XE, around 12:55 am. The preliminary investigation revealed that the children, hailing from Akwanga LGA in Nasarawa State, were being trafficked to Ogun State by Pastor Simon Kado and Jesse Simon-Kado, both of whom are now in police custody.
While the investigation is ongoing, the FCT Commissioner of Police, Benneth Igweh, emphasized the priority of residents’ safety. Efforts are being made in collaboration with the Nasarawa State Police Command to reunite the victims with their respective families. The authorities are determined to address the child trafficking case and ensure the well-being of the affected children.
