Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), has called on political leaders in the country to urgently attend to the economic challenges facing Nigeria.
This call was made by the President of the association, Archbishop Daniel Okoh as Christians observe Ash Wednesday and begin the Lenten season, a period of reflection and compassion.
He emphasized the significance of Ash Wednesday, stating that it serves as a reminder of human mortality and the need for self-reflection.
He urged Christians to embody the love and compassion of Jesus Christ in their daily lives, especially towards those experiencing economic hardships.
The Archbishop encouraged individuals to consider ways to contribute to the well-being of others around them, mirroring Christ’s example.
CAN stressed the importance of supporting those in need and called for continued support from political leaders to alleviate the burdens faced by citizens.
The Man of God expressed concern for those struggling financially, even as he highlighted the importance of creating a Nigeria where every individual can thrive.
He urged leaders to prioritize the well-being of the most vulnerable in society and to take concrete actions to address economic challenges.
“As we enter this season of Lent, let us show understanding, empathy, and service to others.
“Together, let us work towards building a Nigeria where compassion and support for our fellow citizens are at the forefront of our values and actions,” he appealed.
