Joseph Aloba, the father of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad, has urged the Nigeria Police to summon his son’s wife, Omowunmi, to provide insights into Mohbad’s death. In a statement sent to PUNCH Metro, Aloba’s legal team requested that Omowunmi be invited to testify before the court, believing her testimony could shed more light on the circumstances leading to Mohbad’s demise.
The statement mentioned that witnesses Ayobami Fisayo, Boluwatife Adeyemo, and Ibrahim Owodunni, who were with the deceased at the time, had been requested to testify. The Aloba family emphasized the need for Omowunmi’s cooperation and testimony to uncover the truth behind Mohbad’s death.
Highlighting the sensitive nature of the matter, the family also urged the police to ensure Omowunmi’s safety when she comes forward to share her knowledge. The statement emphasized the importance of prioritizing the investigation for the sake of closure and justice.
Additionally, Mohbad’s father disclosed that he had filed a suit seeking a DNA test for his grandson, Liam, to resolve paternity issues. He mentioned that the legal team had approached the court, and the suit had been filed. The move was aimed at protecting Liam from potential future embarrassment regarding his paternity.
Mohbad, a former signee of Marlian Music owned by Naira Marley, passed away on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27, sparking controversies around the circumstances of his death. The Lagos State Police Command initiated a special investigation team to probe the singer’s death, leading to the arrest of individuals, including Naira Marley. The police exhumed Mohbad’s body for autopsy, and the investigation is ongoing.
