Saudi Arabia’s football governing body has suspended Cristiano Ronaldo for one game and fined him 30,000 riyals ($8,000) over a gesture made on the pitch during a match last weekend. The Saudi Arabian Football Federation stated that the Al-Nassr captain and former Sporting Lisbon star violated rules against provoking the public during a game. The suspension and fine come in response to a video showing Ronaldo making a repeated thrusting gesture towards his groin in reaction to crowds taunting him with chants of Lionel Messi’s name during a 3-2 win against Al-Shabab. The decision is not subject to appeal.
