The Lagos State Police Command has once again arrested afro singer Ibrahim Owodunni, popularly known as Primeboy. According to a source familiar with the situation, Primeboy and another individual named Spending had been instructed to visit the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) weekly as part of the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad.
Upon their arrival at the SCID to register their presence, Primeboy was immediately handcuffed and detained, while Spending was allowed to leave after signing in. The source revealed that Primeboy remains in custody at the time of speaking.
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, stated that he was not aware of the recent arrest but promised to investigate the matter further.
Primeboy had previously been declared wanted by the police on October 4, 2023, before turning himself in two days later as part of the ongoing investigation into Mohbad’s death.
Meanwhile, Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, filed an application in January at the coroner court in Ikorodu, seeking to call more witnesses to testify in order to uncover the cause of his son’s death. Among the requested witnesses are Primeboy, Spending, and Boluwatife Adeyemo, also known as Darosha, all of whom were alleged to have been with Mohbad at the time of his death.
Mohbad passed away on September 12 at the age of 27, sparking controversies and discussions on social media surrounding the circumstances of his death. His departure from Marlian Music, owned by Naira Marley, earlier in February 2022 added further interest to the case.
The Lagos State Police Command initiated a special investigation team on September 18, 2023, to look into Mohbad’s death, leading to the arrest of individuals including Naira Marley and Lagos socialite Balogun Eletu, also known as Sam Larry.
Mohbad’s body was exhumed for autopsy on September 21, 2023, to determine the cause of death. Hundeyin tweeted in September 2023 that the autopsy had been concluded, with results awaited.
In November 2023, Aloba stated that nobody should bury his son without his authorization, and in December 2023, Hundeyin reiterated that the police had not yet received the autopsy report from the pathologists.
