President Bola Tinubu recently convened a meeting with the leadership of the Edo state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the State House, Abuja. The meeting, attended by the party’s gubernatorial candidate for the upcoming election, Senator Monday Okpebholo, and his running mate, Hon Dennis Idahosa, aimed to address internal disagreements within the party.
While specifics of the discussions remain undisclosed, a source present at the meeting indicated that one of the resolutions was for the running mate, Idahosa, to withdraw his protest litigation against Okpebholo’s candidature.
Recall that the primary election which ultimately resulted in Okpebholo emerging as the candidate faced initial controversy as Idahosa was initially declared by the Governor Hope Uzodinma-led committee. However, the primary was subsequently declared inconclusive by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party due to several irregularities.
