Four days following the tragic killings of military officers and civilians in the Okuama community of Ughelli South Local Government Area in Delta State, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori undertook a visit to the troubled area on Monday to evaluate the extent of the devastation.
Despite the governor’s presence, journalists were denied access to cover his assessment tour by the military Joint Task Force (JTF). The JTF personnel blocked major entry points to Okuama using an armored personnel carrier tank, effectively halting both vehicular and pedestrian traffic, including media representatives, from entering the community.
Upon arrival, Governor Oborevwori was greeted by Major General Jamaal Abdulsalam, the leader of the military JTF. The governor engaged in a closed-door meeting with Major General Abdulsalam, which lasted approximately one hour.
