Troops from the Nigerian Army’s 1 Division stationed in Kaduna State have carried out a successful rescue operation, liberating 16 abducted victims from the clutches of violent extremists and terrorists in Tantatu Community, Kajuru Local Government Area.
Acting on actionable intelligence, the troops swiftly responded to the insurgents’ attack on the community and the abduction of several villagers. Arriving at the scene on March 17, 2024, around 10:30 pm, the troops engaged the insurgents in a fierce firefight, ultimately rescuing the kidnapped victims.
A statement from Army headquarters highlighted the troops’ dedication and bravery in pursuing the insurgents, emphasizing their commitment to ongoing search and rescue operations to free any remaining hostages and thwart the insurgents’ activities.
Commending the troops for their successful mission, Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja praised their efforts and urged them to maintain vigilance as they continue counterinsurgency operations to secure troubled areas across the country.
