In an uplifting turn of events, the Kaduna State Government has declared the liberation of the 287 schoolchildren abducted from Kuriga, Chikun Local Government Area, Kaduna State. This promising development was relayed through a statement issued by the state governor, Senator Uba Sani, on Sunday.
The statement expressed profound gratitude to several entities, notably acknowledging the pivotal role of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in championing the safety and security of Nigerians. Governor Uba Sani highlighted the President’s unwavering support throughout the ordeal, emphasizing his active involvement in facilitating the safe return of the abducted Kuriga schoolchildren.
Additionally, commendation was extended to the Nigerian Army for its bravery and dedication, which culminated in the successful rescue operation. The governor underscored the significance of collective prayers from Nigerians, attributing the joyful outcome to divine intervention.
The harrowing ordeal began on March 7, 2024, when the schoolchildren from LEA Primary School and Government Secondary School, Kuriga, were forcibly taken by assailants into the wilderness. The abductors, demanding a ransom of N1bn, set a deadline of March 27, 2024, for its payment.
However, with the combined efforts of government authorities, security agencies, and the fervent prayers of the nation, the abducted children have been safely reunited with their families.
