The Borno State Police Command has announced the arrest of eight individuals in connection with the suspected murder of Dr. Kamar Abdulkadir, a lecturer at the University of Maiduguri. The tragic incident occurred on Sunday when assailants invaded Dr. Abdulkadir’s office, fatally stabbing him with a knife and striking him with a hammer.
According to Nahum Keneth, the spokesperson for the command, upon receiving a distress call from the university, a police team promptly responded to the scene where Dr. Abdulkadir was discovered dead in his office. Subsequently, an investigation was launched, leading to the apprehension of eight suspects linked to the murder.
Keneth noted that Dr. Abdulkadir’s vehicle was missing from the scene, suggesting that the assailants may have fled with it. The police assured the public of their commitment to bringing the perpetrators to justice, urging residents and the university community to remain calm and continue their daily activities without fear.
This tragic incident echoes a similar occurrence reported by PUNCH Metro in July 2023, where suspected gunmen killed Professor Opeyemi Ajewole, a faculty member at the University of Ibadan, while he was returning home from work.
