On Monday, the Federal Capital Territory Police Command took decisive action against suspected kidnappers by conducting thorough searches of their potential hideouts and routes nestled within the hills and thick vegetation surrounding Apo-resettlement in Abuja. This operation, led by Commissioner of Police CP Benneth Igweh, aimed to enhance security measures in an area perceived as frequented by kidnappers and criminals.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, revealed in a statement issued on Wednesday that the operation involved a comprehensive sweep of Zones A and B of Apo-resettlement and its surroundings on April 1, 2024, commencing at approximately 11 am. Illegal structures and overgrown bushes were cleared out during the operation, and police personnel were strategically deployed for surveillance patrols. These measures were taken to ensure thorough monitoring of entry and exit points to the hills, effectively cutting off potential escape routes for criminals.
Commissioner Igweh emphasized the importance of community vigilance, urging residents to promptly report any suspicious activities to law enforcement authorities. This proactive approach aims to bolster public safety and deter criminal elements from operating within the vicinity of Apo-resettlement.
