The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has rescheduled the screening of 16 aspirants vying for the party’s ticket ahead of the Ondo State governorship primary election to Friday.
Initially slated to commence on Thursday, the two-day screening was postponed due to the extension of the Eid-el Fitr holiday by the Federal Government. This information was disclosed by a senior official of the APC organising directorate, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
The screening exercise will follow shortly after the inauguration of a seven-member Ondo Governorship Screening Committee and a five-man Screening Appeal Committee by the National Working Committee of the party. The inauguration is scheduled for 9:00 am at the national secretariat of the party in Abuja on the same day.
Former Deputy Governor of Gombe State, Senator Joshua Lidani, will chair the Governorship Screening Committee, with former House of Representatives member, Bimbo Daramola, serving as Secretary. Other members of the committee include Pastor Jones Erue, High Chief Second Bakor, Magaret Duru, Prof. Chukwudi Ledirick, and Hon. Abdul Rahim Balogun.
The five-man Screening Appeal Committee will be chaired by Senator Oseni Yakubu, representing Kogi Central District, with a former Member of the House of Representatives serving as Secretary. Additional members of the appeal committee include Emmanuel Ekeh, Pious Idele, and Ibrahim Magaji Dosara.
All the Ondo governorship aspirants have been duly informed about the rescheduling and have been urged to arrive on time for the exercise. The screening will commence immediately after the inauguration of the screening and screening appeal committees at 9:00 am.
Among the 16 aspirants who purchased nomination forms are Governor Lucky Ayiedatiwa, Senator Jimoh Ibrahim representing Ondo South district, Olusola Oke, Prof. Francis Faduyile, Dr. Funmi Waheed-Adekojo, Isaac Kekemeke (APC National Vice Chairman – South West), Akinfolarin Samuel, Olusoji Ehinlanwo, Okunjimi Odimayo, Adewale Akinterinwa, Olugbenga Edema, Gen. Ohunyeye Olamide, Morayo Lebi, Garvey Oladiran Iyanjan, and Ifeoluwa Oyedele.
