The Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Ikorodu has granted an order for Wunmi, the wife of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, to be served notice of the pending DNA test application through substituted means.
In a statement signed by a member of the legal team representing the Aloba family, Monisola Odumosu, the court granted the family’s request to serve Wunmi by posting all legal documents at her last-known address. The application, filed by the legal team on behalf of Joseph Aloba, the late singer’s father, sought this alternative method of service as previous attempts to serve Wunmi had failed.
Odumosu explained that the court’s decision ensures that Wunmi is made aware of the pending suit regarding the paternity of baby Liam and the request for a DNA test. The Aloba family contends that the DNA test is necessary to determine the child’s biological father.
Despite a viral video where Wunmi expressed her willingness to undergo a DNA test, she has allegedly evaded being served the court papers. The matter has been adjourned to the following month for the report on the service of the court documents.
When reached for comment, Wunmi’s lawyer, Taiwo Olawanle, stated that they were not aware of any court order but would advise her to comply if one existed.
Mohbad, a former signee of Marlian Music owned by Naira Marley, passed away at the age of 27 on September 12, 2023. His death raised controversies, prompting the Lagos State Police Command to launch a special investigation team. The singer’s body was exhumed for autopsy on September 21, 2023, in a bid to ascertain the cause of his demise.
