Delta State is in a state of shock following the reported abduction of Goodnews Emuemu, popularly known as Gnewzy, a talented singer signed to Eric Many Records. The unfortunate incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, April 29, 2024, as Gnewzy and his manager, Obas9ice, were returning from a show.
According to Obas9ice, armed men dressed in police uniform intercepted their vehicle on Eklat Road in the Ughelli area of the state. Gnewzy was subsequently taken captive, while Obas9ice narrowly escaped the harrowing ordeal.
The gravity of the situation was further amplified when the kidnappers demanded a hefty ransom of $200,000 through an email sent to Eric Many Records. The chilling message threatened dire consequences if the ransom wasn’t paid within seven days, leaving no room for negotiation or police involvement.
In response to this distressing turn of events, Eric Many Records released a statement through its Project Coordinator, Dayo Showemimo, expressing deep concern and grave distress over Gnewzy’s abduction. The statement assured the public of their proactive engagement with law enforcement agencies to secure the safe return of the artiste. Obas9ice’s full cooperation with the Division A police station in Ughelli was highlighted, emphasizing their commitment to aiding the investigation.
Eric Many Records urged members of the public to come forward with any information that could assist in Gnewzy’s safe return, rallying support for the efforts to bring him back unharmed.
Despite efforts to reach the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, for comment, no response was received at the time of reporting.
