President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to address a joint session of the 10th National Assembly on Wednesday in Abuja. This address comes as part of the National Assembly’s commemoration of the 25th anniversary of uninterrupted democracy and legislative proceedings in Nigeria.
In a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, it was clarified that President Tinubu will not deliver a nationwide address to mark his first anniversary as Nigeria’s leader. Instead, he will focus on addressing the joint session of the National Assembly, which has organized a program to celebrate 25 years of Nigeria’s democratic journey.
President Tinubu’s speech will highlight the achievements of his administration and Nigeria’s democracy since the military relinquished power in 1999. Former Senate President, Senator David Mark, and former Speaker of the House of Representatives, now President Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, are also scheduled to address the parliament.
Additionally, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, the former military ruler who facilitated Nigeria’s transition to civilian rule in 1999, will address the audience as well.
Following the speeches, President Tinubu will inaugurate the National Assembly Library and Resource Centre, which will be renamed the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Building in his honor. This event marks an important milestone in Nigeria’s democratic history and recognizes the contributions of key figures in shaping the nation’s governance landscape.
