President Bola Tinubu has granted an extension of free train rides on the Abuja Rail Mass Transit, popularly known as the Metro Rail, for an additional six months, continuing until the year’s end. This decision was announced during Tinubu’s address at the inauguration of the Abuja metro rail’s operational commencement in the nation’s capital.
Initially, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike had announced a two-month period of complimentary train rides to alleviate the commuting burden for residents of the FCT. However, responding to the community’s needs, President Tinubu urged for the extension, emphasizing the importance of providing hope and cause for celebration among the FCT populace.
Addressing the authorities, Tinubu remarked, “Our dear landlord and his team, I heard you saying two months free ride. I appeal to you to make it till the end of the year. Since today you’re not going to charge me, that will give the people hope and reasons to celebrate.”
Further details will follow soon.
