President Bola Tinubu addressed the issue of poverty and challenges facing Nigeria during a meeting with a delegation from the National Assembly in Lagos. He acknowledged the existence of poverty and suffering in the country but emphasized that Nigeria is not alone in facing such issues.
In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu highlighted the need to tackle banditry and terrorism to enable farmers to return to their farms and boost food production. He stressed the importance of infrastructure like good roads to transport agricultural produce efficiently, noting the significant losses incurred due to poor transportation networks.
Tinubu called for a change in Nigeria’s value system, urging citizens to adopt a more productive mindset and contribute positively to the economy. He criticized economic sabotage such as smuggling and vandalism of public infrastructure, emphasizing the need for a collective effort to combat these practices.
The President commended the National Assembly for their support, which he credited with facilitating significant developments under his administration. He expressed pride in having cooperative partners in the National Assembly and underscored the importance of inclusivity in governance to meet the needs of Nigerians.
Despite acknowledging the daunting challenges ahead, Tinubu reaffirmed his commitment to overcoming them and steering Nigeria towards prosperity.
