Sultan Muhammadu Abubakar III of Sokoto has urged Northerners to confront bandits and insurgents head-on in order to combat the escalating security crisis in the North. Addressing participants at the North-West Peace and Security Summit in Katsina State on Monday, the Sultan emphasized the severe impact of banditry and insurgency on the lives of Northern residents, describing it as devastating.
He stressed the urgency of addressing these challenges, highlighting that if left unchecked, the region could suffer from their repercussions for decades to come. The Sultan underscored the readiness of traditional leaders to collaborate closely with security agencies and North-West governors to tackle the menace of banditry and insurgency.
The summit, he expressed, aims to formulate actionable strategies to significantly reduce these threats, allowing people to resume their daily lives and economic activities without fear.
