In the Federal Capital Territory, a 23-year-old woman named Rahimat Salaum has been accused of murdering her husband, Shehu, during a violent altercation. Rahimat was apprehended by Nigeria Police Force operatives as she attempted to flee with her deceased husband’s possessions.
According to a statement released on Tuesday by FCT Command spokesperson Josephine Adeh, the incident unfolded on July 29, 2024, around 6:00 p.m. The police, acting on reliable information, arrested Rahimat in Pegi, Abuja. She had been on the run for three days in a mini truck, carrying her late husband’s belongings.
During interrogation, Rahimat confessed to the crime, explaining that the murder occurred following a dispute with her husband. She led the police to an uncompleted building where she had disposed of his charred body.
The investigation is ongoing. FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Benneth C. Igweh, assured that justice will be pursued and urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities through the police emergency lines.
