The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has launched a three-day operation in Bauchi State to remove counterfeit Milo chocolate drinks from local markets. This initiative, led by the Bauchi State Coordinator, Dr. Paul Kamai, was initiated following directives from NAFDAC’s headquarters.
Dr. Kamai, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), confirmed that the operation began on Tuesday and will involve thorough inspections of markets and superstores across the state.
In addition to tackling the issue of fake Milo, NAFDAC is set to engage with the leadership of the association of Agro chemical dealers within the week. The discussion will focus on the hazards of using banned chemicals like Dictholoruvis and Paraquat for food storage, particularly as the harvest season approaches.
Dr. Kamai also reminded bakers and packaged water producers to renew their operational licenses within the stipulated two-year timeline. He cautioned that failure to do so could result in penalties that might disrupt their business activities.
Finally, he urged small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to ensure their products are registered with NAFDAC to facilitate their integration into the Nigerian market.
