In retaliation, irate youths set fire to several houses connected to the security man and blocked the federal highway linking Bauchi and Plateau states. A stranded traveller, Kabiru Danhajiya, shared his experience: “We encountered a roadblock with fire on one side. Locals informed us that two people were killed by security hunters over charcoal transportation, and the community is now demanding the governor’s intervention.”
Danhajiya added that the police were on the scene but were heavily outnumbered by the protesters, causing major traffic disruptions.
