A Nigerian Air Force officer, Flying Officer David Sangokoya, has been awarded the prestigious International Sword of Honour for 2023 at the Royal Air Force College Cranwell (RAFCC) in the United Kingdom. This accolade is given to the top international cadet, and Sangokoya earned the honor after completing the Modularised Initial Officers’ Training (MIOT) Course 22 from March to September 2023.
The Nigerian Air Force shared the exciting news in a statement on Friday, noting that the award is given to the most outstanding international cadet out of several courses graduated each year by the RAFCC.
The award was presented by His Royal Highness, Prince William, on behalf of King Charles III, during a royal graduation ceremony on September 12, 2024. Sangokoya’s remarkable achievement was celebrated by the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, who praised his dedication and hard work throughout the course.
In his congratulatory message, Air Marshal Abubakar also commended Sangokoya’s family for their unwavering support, highlighting how this recognition reflects positively on both the Nigerian Air Force and the nation as a whole.
