Accompanied by his technical team, Keyamo held discussions with UAE aviation authorities to facilitate the smooth resumption of Emirates’ operations in Nigeria starting next Tuesday.
A statement by Tunde Moshood, the Special Adviser on Media to the minister, emphasized the importance of the negotiations, which focused on enhancing bilateral collaboration and setting clear guidelines for a renewed aviation partnership. A key aspect of the agreement is the provision of reciprocal rights, allowing Nigerian airlines to begin direct flights to the UAE in the near future.
“This is a historic milestone for Nigeria’s aviation sector, broadening international connectivity and providing travelers between both nations with more flight options,” the statement read.
Reflecting on the talks, Minister Keyamo highlighted the significance of the deal, stating, “Today’s discussions reaffirm our dedication to building a balanced and forward-thinking partnership with the UAE. We are pleased to have secured operational rights for Nigerian airlines, which will not only strengthen our bilateral ties but also boost Nigeria’s aviation industry on the global stage. As Emirates resumes its services, we anticipate a prosperous and mutually beneficial air service relationship.”
The deal is the culmination of extensive diplomatic and technical consultations aimed at restoring direct air travel between Nigeria and the UAE.
