The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command successfully foiled a planned attack on government institutions and estates in Abuja on Independence Day, arresting four suspects involved in the plot. Acting on intelligence, the police intercepted the suspects—identified as Yau Sani (an ex-convict), Nuhu (a.k.a. Giwa), Kabiru Mohammed, and Yusuf Hassan—at their hideout in the Sauka area of Abuja.
According to police spokesperson Josephine Adeh, the suspects, who have been linked to numerous kidnappings and the deaths of seven victims in the FCT, Kaduna, and Niger, were part of a notorious criminal gang. The gang had targeted several areas, including Dakwa, Dawaki, Aco Estate, Dupe Village, Zuma Rock, and Kuchiko Village, among others.
After their arrest, the suspects led the police to a forest in Niger, where they had hidden weapons, including four AK-47 rifles and 175 rounds of ammunition. Additional firearms and ammunition were recovered from another hideout in the Gauraka Forest, Suleja, Niger State.
The police emphasized their commitment to preventing crime in the FCT and urged the public to report any suspicious activities.
