In the early hours of Monday, a two-storey building collapsed on Amusu Street, located in the Orile Iganmu area of Lagos State, causing panic among residents in the vicinity.
A video circulating online shows the building caving in, prompting nearby residents to flee for safety. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported, according to an official from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), who confirmed the incident under anonymity.
The official revealed that the building had been evacuated before the collapse, which averted any loss of life. “I can confirm that the incident occurred this morning, but there were no casualties. Evacuation was completed before the collapse,” the source stated.
Emergency responders from LASEMA quickly arrived at the scene to manage the situation. Although the collapse caused alarm, the swift action to evacuate the building beforehand ensured that no one was injured.
