Despite these shifts, Dr. Alausa confirmed that the Federal Government’s stance remains firm on invalidating over 22,700 degrees obtained by Nigerians from unaccredited institutions in neighboring Togo and Benin Republic.
Dr. Alausa emphasized the importance of practical education as a tool for combating unemployment, noting that tertiary institutions cannot simply produce graduates each year without addressing job opportunities. To this end, he announced plans for government partnerships with private sector companies to equip students with industry-relevant skills.
In addition, Alausa revealed that universities focused on agriculture will receive support to adopt commercial farming practices, a step aimed at reducing food insecurity in the country.
