President Bola Tinubu has removed Dr. Chioma Ejikeme as the Executive Secretary of the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) just 13 months after her reappointment.
In a statement issued on Monday by PTAD’s Head of Corporate Communications, Olugbenga Ajayi, the President announced Tolulope Odunaiya as the new Executive Secretary. Odunaiya officially took over on November 18, 2024, at PTAD Headquarters, Abuja.
Ejikeme’s Tenure and Reappointment
Dr. Ejikeme, first appointed in August 2019, was reappointed for another four-year term in October 2023. Her tenure was cut short as part of Tinubu’s efforts to reposition key government agencies.
Odunaiya’s Vision and Leadership
In her inaugural address, Odunaiya expressed gratitude to her predecessors and pledged to advance the Directorate’s mission of improving the welfare of pensioners.
“It is with a deep sense of responsibility and purpose that I address you as the new Executive Secretary of this Directorate. I want to begin by acknowledging the remarkable work of my predecessors and the dedication of every individual who has contributed to bringing us to this point,” she stated.
She emphasized fostering unity within the agency:
“My vision is for a directorate where every individual feels recognised, empowered, and motivated to make meaningful contributions. I urge all of us to transcend personal interests and unite around our shared purpose: improving the lives of our pensioners, who have selflessly served this nation, often in challenging circumstances.”
