President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Jamiu Abiola, son of the late Chief Moshood Abiola, as the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Linguistics and Foreign Matters. Chief Abiola was the winner of the annulled 1993 presidential election under the military regime of General Ibrahim Babangida.
Jamiu Abiola’s new role became effective on November 14, 2024, according to a statement issued by Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
The appointment aligns with the provisions of the Certain Political and Judicial Office Holders (Salaries and Allowances, etc) Act 2008, as amended.
Previously, Abiola served as Special Assistant to the President on Special Duties in the Office of the Vice President. In his new role, President Tinubu has directed him to collaborate with the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs and leverage his expertise to address the nation’s linguistic and diplomatic challenges.
The appointment underscores President Tinubu’s commitment to utilizing seasoned professionals in advancing Nigeria’s foreign relations and language policies.
