This was disclosed in a circular signed by the service’s Director of Corps Mobilisation, Abubakar Mohammed, and distributed to state directors, acting directors, and Federal Capital Territory (FCT) coordinators.
The circular, dated November 25, 2024, and titled “Review of Criteria for Concessional Deployment/Relocation for Married Female Corps Members,” announced a revision of the criteria for approving redeployment requests for married female corps members.
It read:
“Changing a maiden name to that of a spouse is no longer a requirement for the approval of such requests by married female corps members. Other requirements remain as they were.”
The NYSC instructed state and FCT coordinators to ensure strict compliance with the updated directives, while area office directors were tasked with monitoring implementation.
This change reflects a shift towards simplifying the redeployment process for married female corps members while retaining other existing requirements.
