The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of 27 senior officers in the Nigeria Police Force. This includes the elevation of 11 Commissioners of Police (CP) to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General (AIG) and the promotion of 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCP) to Commissioners of Police (CP).
The 11 CPs promoted to AIG are:

- Mustapha Bala – Commissioner of Police, Rivers State
- Abayomi Oladipo – Commissioner of Police, Ondo State
- Taiwo Olatunde Adeleke – Commissioner of Police, SWAT, FCID, Abuja
- Ibrahim Abdullahi – Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State
- Nwonyi Emeka – Commissioner of Police, PPP, DLS, Force Headquarters, Abuja
- Akinwale Kunle Adeniran – Commissioner of Police, Ekiti State
- Zubairu Abubakar – Commissioner of Police, Courses, Police Staff College, Jos
- Fom Joseph – Commissioner of Police, Homicide, FCID, Abuja
- Emuobo Ekokotu – Commissioner of Police, Admin, Airwing, Abuja
- Garba Yusuf – Deputy Commandant, Police Staff College, Jos

Promotion Process and Expectations
The PSC, in a statement issued by its spokesperson Ikechukwu Ani, revealed that the promoted officers underwent rigorous written and oral examinations on December 16, 2024, at the commission’s corporate headquarters.
PSC Chairman, retired Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Hashimu Argungu, emphasized that written and oral examinations would now be mandatory for promotions across all ranks within the Nigeria Police Force.
Argungu highlighted the importance of continuous professional development and adopting global best practices, including enhanced proficiency in ICT, to ensure the force remains modern and effective.
This promotion marks a significant milestone in the careers of the officers and reinforces the PSC’s commitment to merit-based advancements in the Nigeria Police Force.
